Disney Increase prices on streaming platforms.
Starting in mid-October, most Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ plans will see a monthly price increase of $1 to $2. Hulu’s most expensive plan, which includes live TV, will increase by $6 per month, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Disney+ Basic and Premium cost $9.99 and $15.99, respectively. Hulu with ads costs $9.99/month, Hulu without ads costs $18.99/month, and ESPN+ with ads costs $11.99/month.
The price increase comes as Disney continues to encourage customers to buy bundles to get better deals.
Disney has previously offered bundles of its services, combining Hulu with Disney+ or those two streaming services with ESPN+. The existing ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle will also increase in price by $1 this fall to $10.99 per month, while the same bundle without ads will remain at its current price of $19.99 per month.
Disney also Warner Bros. Discovery The company will offer a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max. In July, the companies announced that the bundle would be available for $16.99 with ads or $29.99 without commercials, noting that this represents a “38% savings compared to purchasing the services individually.”
Disney is also looking to entice subscribers with a playlist featuring ABC News Live and preschool content, which will be available to all subscribers starting Sept. 4, according to an announcement on Tuesday. The company also plans to introduce four more curated playlists for premium subscribers.
“The playlist is our latest example of how we’re delivering the best value and experience to our subscribers every time they open Disney+,” Alisa Bowen, president of the streaming platform, said in a news release.
Disney will report third-quarter results before trading opens on Wednesday.
